Otis Butler Whaley

O. B. Whaley School, the district's third school, named in 1963 after Otis Butler Whaley, who served on the Evergreen Board of Trustees for 27 years. The Whaley family purchased a prune and apricot orchard in the foothills off of San Felipe Road in 1911. They called their orchard Sunnyslope Farm. The property is now part of the Meadowlands housing development. Whaley died in 1946 at the age of 75.
